Institutionalized Conservationism

Because modern society has so many people basically locked down into professions and jobs that occupy a majority of their energy and productive moments, and stear the overall direction and conversation of the majority with mass media, and severely punish dissenters, people need direction to accomplish tasks that are off the beaten path.

Today, conservationism (also known as the protection of natural resources) is a fringe or bonus activity that is not normally embarked upon by those in traditional economic pursuits. Today, the normal measure of success is money. Things like considerations of the environment are side-bars or bonuses that are often not factored in.

For conservationism to really take hold in our nation, we need it to become fully institutionalized. In other words, it needs to become part of our institutions. For example, a department of conservation could be created as part of the Federal government, that has oversight over other departments where every endeavor that is Federally mandated needs to make sure it is formally approved by the department of conservation.

This is exactly opposite what some leaders like Donald Trump had been doing. This makes me wonder whether we will ever have institutionalized conservationism.

For conservationism to become institutionalized, it would take strong leadership from someone with lots of political power.

Without institutionalized conservationism, it appears likely that our civilization will collapse. If conservationism is not institutionalized, it does not appear likely that the Paris Climate Agreement and other such agreements will be met, and this will in turn lead to widespread catastrophe as warned about by the UN in 2018.
